About the IASP Pain Management Camp

IASP and its co-organizers are pleased to invite country chapters, medical societies and academic medical institutions and individuals to nominate and apply for the IASP Pain Management Camp 2013 which will take place on 28 April to 2 May 2013 at the YWCA, Singapore (28 April to 1 May) and MAX Atria @ Singapore EXPO (2 May).

IASP Pain Management Camp 2013 is the second pain education project co-organized by the Association of South East Asian Pain Societies (ASEAPS) and the Pain Association of Singapore (PAS) incorporated with 5th ASEAPS Conference which will be held from 2 to 5 May 2013 in Singapore. It follows from the success of the first pain managemennt camp held in Thailand back in 2010.

The goal is to provide an understanding of pain concepts and the basics in interdisciplinary pain management for healthcare workers starting pain services or working in pain and related fields. The five-day course will seek to cover topics relevant to day-to-day clinical practice, as well as other topics that are relevant towards molding participants into pain management educators and advocates. The program’s main objectives are:

  1. To improve participants’ knowledge of pain pathophysiology, diagnosis and management
  2. To provide an impetus for pain practitioners in Asian countries to develop their pain management infrastructure, or enhance existing infrastructure
  3. To foster closer collaboration among Asian pain practitioners
  4. To raise the level of care for the Asian pain patient
